The Riffle Ranch Foundation is a 501(c)3 that owns and operates a private fly-fishing lodge along the Lower Deschutes River near Madras, Oregon. We pride ourselves on providing an environment where guests from all walks of life can rest, relax, and reset, and our team plays a pivotal role in making this vision a reality. We are seeking a dedicated seasonal intern to join our team and help us create exceptional guest experiences. About the Role As an intern, you will gain hands-on experience in all areas of ranch operations and guest service, including: · Trip planning: Collaborating with staff and guests to design exceptional experiences for our guests. · Meal preparation: Assisting with shopping, cooking, serving, and providing an elevated dining experience. · Fly fishing instruction: Learning and teaching fly fishing to guests of all skill levels. · Property maintenance: Participating in projects tasks such as landscaping, construction, small animal care, basic repairs, and general upkeep of the lodge and grounds. This comprehensive role offers a unique opportunity to develop a wide range of skills while contributing meaningfully to the day-to-day operations of the lodge. Responsibilities Your tasks will vary depending on the lodge’s needs and may include: · Assisting with guest services to ensure their experience is seamless from arrival to departure. · Participating in meal preparation, shopping, serving, and clean-up in a team-oriented kitchen. · Preparing and managing fishing gear and guided fishing experiences. · Handling routine property maintenance, including cleaning, repairs, construction, and other outdoor projects. · Engaging in all guest activities and lodge events as a positive, collaborative team member.

About Us/The Position: • Wandering Angler is a fly fishing and spin fishing outfit based in Jackson WY. We offer guided drift boat and walk wade trips on the Snake, Green, Salt rivers and in Yellowstone National Park. • 85% of the customers we take are beginners or have only fished a few times. We own five 18ft drift boats that can hold up to 5 guests plus the guide, making our peak season (Mid June - August) very family and kid oriented. In May, June and Setpember we book lots of couples and groups (2 person boats). • Prior expeirence is ideal, but we are motivated to train the right person with a solid base knowledge of fly fishing. Professional fishing guides have their own truck and boat, but we do have company vehicles and boats for the right canidate. • We offer some of the most completitve pay in the valley and auto grautity all direct bookings. Guide pay is based on number of guests, so rowing an 18ft boat with 5 guests plus auto gratuity is a great pay day. • We have a short summer season to make a living and look for guides who can work 5-6 days per week. • Ideal Canidate: Fun, positive, enthusistic and strong guide that can safely row and manage customers and the river. • Housing: We have several 4-5 bedroom, 2-3 bathroom homes in Victor and Driggs Idaho (30-45 minute commute) for staff housing. Around $800 month. Roomates are other fishing and rafting guides that work for the company. Duties • Lead guided fly fishing trips tailored to clients’ skill levels and interests • Educate clients on fly fishing techniques, equipment, and safety procedures • Demonstrate proper casting, reeling, and fish handling methods • Ensure the safety of all participants during excursions by adhering to safety protocols • Maintain fishing gear and equipment in excellent condition • Provide engaging storytelling and instruction to enhance the overall experience • Manage group dynamics and ensure timely progression of activities • Respond promptly to client inquiries and provide personalized recommendations • Assist in organizing fishing trips, including planning routes and securing necessary permits Experience • Proven experience as a fly fishing guide or professional angler with knowledge of fly fishing techniques • Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and instruct groups of varying sizes • Excellent public speaking and communication skills for effective teaching and storytelling • Prior experience in customer service within outdoor recreation or guiding roles is preferred • Demonstrated time management skills to efficiently coordinate multiple trips and client needs • Ability to teach complex concepts clearly and engagingly to beginners and experienced anglers alike This position is perfect for passionate fly fishers who enjoy sharing their expertise with others while exploring beautiful outdoor environments.
