Job Description

A seeking fly fishing guides for the 2026 summer season.

Spotted Bear Ranch is an Orvis Endorsed Fly Fishing Lodge in Northwest Montana. We operate on the South Fork of the Flathead River and its tributaries offering first-class fly-fishing trips for native Westslope Cutthroat and Bull Trout.

This is one of the only legal Bull Trout fisheries in the lower 48!!

Guides - Applicants should have prior guiding experience and a good knowledge of western trout fishing. Must be a team player, self-motivated, a good teacher, and know how to row. All applicants will need to have or be able to obtain a Montana Guide License.

Lodge - Trips depart daily from our lodge floating two sections of the South Fork of the Flathead. We also offer multiple walk/wade trips. This position would start in early June and run until early September.

Wilderness - Trips depart weekly from our trailhead and venture into the interior of the Bob Marshall Wilderness on horseback. The first two days of these trips are mostly riding with some walk/wade fishing in the evenings. Day three is a layover day with some incredible walk/wade fishing opportunities. Days 4-6 are spent float fishing back to the point of origin. This position would start in mid/late June and run until late August.

Responsibilities
• Lead guided fly fishing trips, ensuring a safe and enjoyable experience for clients.
• Provide expert instruction on fly fishing techniques and equipment usage.
• Communicate effectively with clients to understand their needs and preferences.
• Manage time efficiently to maximize fishing opportunities during trips.
• Deliver exceptional customer service, addressing any questions or concerns.
• Foster a positive and educational environment, enhancing clients' fishing skills.

Accommodations - Lodge guides are provided bunkhouse style housing. Wilderness guides are provided wall tent housing when not in the backcountry and should be prepared for wilderness camping when in the backcountry.

Qualifications & Skills

Certifications/Licenses:

Guides - Applicants should have prior guiding experience and a good knowledge of western trout fishing
Must be a team player, self-motivated, a good teacher, and know how to row
All applicants will need to have or be able to obtain a Montana Guide License

Other Benefits

Compensation - Monthly salary paid every two weeks plus tips
