Job Description

About Us/The Position:
• Wandering Angler is a fly fishing and spin fishing outfit based in Jackson WY. We offer guided drift boat and walk wade trips on the Snake, Green, Salt rivers and in Yellowstone National Park.
• 85% of the customers we take are beginners or have only fished a few times. We own five 18ft drift boats that can hold up to 5 guests plus the guide, making our peak season (Mid June - August) very family and kid oriented. In May, June and Setpember we book lots of couples and groups (2 person boats).
• Prior expeirence is ideal, but we are motivated to train the right person with a solid base knowledge of fly fishing. Professional fishing guides have their own truck and boat, but we do have company vehicles and boats for the right canidate.
• We offer some of the most completitve pay in the valley and auto grautity all direct bookings. Guide pay is based on number of guests, so rowing an 18ft boat with 5 guests plus auto gratuity is a great pay day.
• We have a short summer season to make a living and look for guides who can work 5-6 days per week.
• Ideal Canidate: Fun, positive, enthusistic and strong guide that can safely row and manage customers and the river.
• Housing: We have several 4-5 bedroom, 2-3 bathroom homes in Victor and Driggs Idaho (30-45 minute commute) for staff housing. Around $800 month. Roomates are other fishing and rafting guides that work for the company.

Duties

• Educate clients on fly fishing techniques, equipment, and safety procedures
• Demonstrate proper casting, reeling, and fish handling methods
• Ensure the safety of all participants during excursions by adhering to safety protocols
• Maintain fishing gear and equipment in excellent condition
• Provide engaging storytelling and instruction to enhance the overall experience
• Manage group dynamics and ensure timely progression of activities
• Respond promptly to client inquiries and provide personalized recommendations
• Assist in organizing fishing trips, including planning routes and securing necessary permits

Experience
• Proven experience as a fly fishing guide or professional angler with knowledge of fly fishing techniques
• Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and instruct groups of varying sizes
• Excellent public speaking and communication skills for effective teaching and storytelling
• Prior experience in customer service within outdoor recreation or guiding roles is preferred
• Demonstrated time management skills to efficiently coordinate multiple trips and client needs
