Assistant Fly Shop Manager (Full-Time)
Location: Rapid City, South Dakota (Black Hills)
Job Type: Full-Time, in-store
Overview
Dakota Angler & Outfitter is hiring an Assistant Fly Shop Manager to help lead the floor, elevate customer service, and keep shop operations running smoothly. This is a hands-on role for someone who leads by example and thrives in a busy retail environment.
What you’ll do
Lead by example on the sales floor: customer service, product education, solution-based selling
Support daily operations: opening/closing, cash handling, merchandising standards
Assist with inventory accuracy: receiving, stocking, cycle counts, backstock organization
Help train, coach, and support store associates (product knowledge + service standards)
Manage workflow during busy periods and ensure coverage needs are met
Collaborate on shop initiatives (content, classes, events, etc.)
What we’re looking for
2+ years retail experience; leadership/supervisor experience strongly preferred
Strong communication, calm problem-solving, and excellent follow-through
Solid fly fishing and gear knowledge (or the ability to get there fast)
Comfortable with POS systems and basic inventory workflows
Availability for a consistent schedule, including Saturdays
Nice to have
Fly tying knowledge, guiding/outfitting background, or specialty expertise
Experience supporting online order fulfillment / e-commerce workflows
